What is InfoTracer?

InfoTracer is a people-search and background check site that aggregates public records, name, address history, phone numbers, email addresses, relatives, court records, and social media profiles, into searchable personal profiles. It markets its database to individuals conducting background checks and to businesses for lead verification. InfoTracer is subject to both CCPA (for California residents) and GDPR (for EU/UK residents).

Why your data appears on InfoTracer

InfoTracer collects from county property records, voter registration rolls, court filing databases, and partner data-aggregator feeds. Because it aggregates from multiple upstream sources, opting out of InfoTracer does not remove your data from those upstream providers, you will need to address those separately for comprehensive removal.

Step-by-step: How to remove yourself from InfoTracer

  1. Step 1: Find your profile. Go to infotracer.com in an incognito window. Search your full name and state. Note the URL of every listing that contains your information.
  2. Step 2: Submit a removal request. Navigate to infotracer.com/optout. Enter your name, state, and the URL of your profile. InfoTracer does not require identity verification for basic opt-out submissions.

💡 Tip: If you find multiple profiles across different states, submit a separate removal request for each listing URL. InfoTracer does not batch-remove multiple profiles from a single submission.

  3. Step 3: Follow up with a formal request if the form fails. If your profile is still live after 3 weeks, email privacy@infotracer.com with a formal deletion request citing California Civil Code § 1798.105 (CCPA) or GDPR Article 17. InfoTracer must respond within 45 days (CCPA) or 30 days (GDPR).
  4. Step 4: Check for re-population. InfoTracer re-imports from county and state databases regularly. After 90 days, search your name again in incognito. If your profile reappears, re-submit the opt-out. Repeat removals are common for this broker.

Removal timeline

MethodTimeframe
InfoTracer opt-out form2–4 weeks
CCPA deletion requestUp to 45 days
GDPR Article 17 erasureUp to 30 days
Re-population riskEvery 3–6 months from public records

What to do if InfoTracer removal fails

If InfoTracer does not respond within the applicable legal deadline, file a complaint with the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) at cppa.ca.gov for CCPA violations, or your national data protection authority for GDPR violations. Also address InfoTracer's upstream data suppliers, if your data is being re-provided by a partner aggregator, it will continue appearing until you address the source.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I remove myself from InfoTracer?

Go to infotracer.com/optout, enter your name and state, and submit the removal request with your profile URL. If the form doesn't work, email privacy@infotracer.com with a CCPA or GDPR deletion request. Removal typically takes 2–4 weeks.

Is it free to opt out of InfoTracer?

Yes. Under CCPA and GDPR, InfoTracer must process deletion requests at no charge. You should never pay InfoTracer or any third party to remove your data.

Will my data come back on InfoTracer after removal?

Yes. InfoTracer re-imports from public records periodically. Your profile may reappear within 3–6 months. Re-submit the opt-out when it does, and address the underlying sources (voter rolls, property records) to reduce re-population frequency.
