Minimum future study design
Pre-register the sample
Name the broker set, selection rule, geography, date, and inclusion/exclusion criteria before measuring outcomes.
Separate outcome states
Record request sent, receipt confirmed, response received, profile no longer found, and later reappearance as separate fields.
Use repeatable checks
Use the same identifiers, search locations, timestamps, and verification rules for each observation.
Report uncertainty
Publish denominators, missing observations, confidence intervals where appropriate, and reasons a result cannot be generalized.
Protect people
Use consented test records or public documentation; never probe, bypass CAPTCHA, create deceptive accounts, or submit requests for people without authorization.
Keep source evidence
Retain dated URLs, screenshots or confirmations where lawful, and a redacted audit trail that another reviewer can inspect.
What current pages may say
- A broker-stated processing window is not an independently measured removal outcome.
- A registry's reported deletion field is a self-reported or source-derived field, not a universal compliance rate.
- Users should review, send, verify, and follow up; no one-time removal claim should imply permanent monitoring or guaranteed reappearance prevention.
